Lying on a beach, underneath the stars..

A week ago was our last night in Costa Rica, a tropical land of kind people and poor roads. We began our trip at the beach in Manuel Antonio, frolicking in an ocean too warm to be refreshing, watching monkeys make off with unattended oreos, and watching one of the most beautiful sunsets ever.

We then left the coast and spent the next week traveling through the cloud forests and the countryside, riding horses, feeding coati, bathing in hot springs, flying over the forest canopy, and marveling at the volcano in our back yard. We ate casados and the freshest pineapple, sipped great coffee, and saw more rainbows in a single day than we could count.

Then we ended our trip back on the coast, farther north in Playa Hermosa, where the sand was soft and fine, and the water slightly cooler. We had nachos and drinks at a beach bar, and a relaxing dinner at our hotel, listening to the rhythmic crashing of the surf.

Afterwards, we took a walk out onto the moonlit beach and danced in the low tide, Orion and the Pleiades high overhead. We then lay down on the sand, and with Liz’ head on my chest, I asked her to share the world with me, from here to the stars and back.

She said yes :)
